Ummmmmmmmm...............

Ok,now.....

This just a short post.

Sorry for yesterdays emotional post.

I want to do level 1 with Banjo, but i feel like it's to hard to do, at the moment anyway. I don't want to/can't sell him, but i feel as if i have to if i want to get another horse, something a bit less... challenging.

I'm sick of using the word but!!!!!!!!!!

Lily.

  1. Hi there Lily. Keep you chin up girl. What it all comes down to is heart and desire. Do you really want this. How much? Life gets really stressful (especially with school, family and boys ;)) If you keep making progress with Banjo, your affection for him will grow and you won't even be able to bear the thought of selling him. When everybody around you see's how happy and confident you are getting with him they'll maybe start asking questions. Rod has seen the change QS has made with me and my relationship with Eddie over the past 6 months. I too was going to sell him as I didn't think I had the skills to handle him either. Then I started just taking little baby steps. The hardest thing is committing yourself to just doing it. I know how hard it is when you are by yourself. Do you have other horsey friends who might be interested in joining you. It's just so great if you can share your experiences with somebody who is there. I know with Mel and I we've just come so far since we've been spending time together.

So have a think about it, tell you friends how much fun you're having with Banjo, tell them they need to have an open mind. None of us a really confident to start off with Lily. We just all need to work towards it, and once it starts happening it's just the bee's knees'. Keep us posted. Would love to see some piccy's of you playing with Banjo. He looks like such a gorgeous boy. :):)

    Cheers for now.
    Luv

  2. Hi Lily,

Ann has given you some really good advise. I too thought at times of selling Stubby; that was at the beginning of our journey, when we were still getting to know each other and when we tried to work out our 'communication problems'. Now we are working on Level 2 and I do things with him I never even dreamt about (cantering bareback, just using halter and lead rope... awesome :D)
It's a bit like findig a new boyfriend from a different country speaking little English. You fall in love at first sight, then you become not not sure about the relationship, but in your heart you know you want to be with him forever.
How much time would you give yourself to find out what he really is like? How long would you give your partnership to grow?
As you spend time with your new boyfriend you find that most of the issues you have is because you don't understand each others language very well. Do you give up on him or would you try to establish that language connection? Would you make an effort to learn his language; teach him some of ours? As your communcition improves and you understand each other better, how would that affect your relationship? As you communicate better you avoid misunderstandings and start building that relationship you dreamt of and make it last a life time.

That's how I thought about my journey with Stubby. It was building a relationship, a partnership that was to last a lifetime and using a human analogy helped me to get through some tough spots. Now I can't even fathom that at one stage I was ready to sell him on. Totally unimaginable now. :D

Banjo looks like a great horse and you and him will have a great partnership and friendship. You can do it and I bet once you start you will absolutely love it.
